This wonderful and storical pic is from the
early 1900s (about 1910-1920) and it shows maestro Cirillo (his real
name was Matteo Riccardi; the one in the mid of the picture), a famous
master of the duelling tradition from Manfredonia in Apulia, with two of his students during his migration time in Argentina.
Maestro Cirillo has been the teacher of one of my teachers father, and he was one of the many great masters and duellists of this tradition in that era. In Manfredonia existed many different lines/families till the mid of the 1970s. The picture is probably one of the oldest evidences regarding our Italian knife traditions.
As you can see the off-hand ist always placed at the hip, this is a hallmark of the Manfredonian tradition, at least when talking about the school modus.
